Leopard Ray Magic

Leopard Ray Magic

Leopard Ray Magic, original watercolour on heavyweight rag paper, framed.

Work 2 of 3 in the Enchanted Reef triptych

Explore a slightly surreal coral reef, with leopard like rays swimming over the coral bed. Brightly coloured fish skittishly make their way while others that are a little more camouflaged float with perfect confidence.

There is so much to spot in this painting. A painting where everytime you look at it, you see something new. From jewel like lobsters, florescent fish to the smaller, less strident performers in this ocean scene.

It was a great joy to paint this. A perfect celebration of the joys of what this planet offers in our oceans, reefs, rivers, lakes, mariners. An alien, exotic and wonderful world to discover. A blend of imagination and a passion for the natural world.

Some of the creatures found in these worlds may well be invented, some are real and truly enchanting. Sometimes nature just cannot be beaten in its ore and majesty.

This piece sets out to capture the magic and unknown realms of the ocean. There is still so much for us to learn.
