Jaguars sleep under the starlight with a sparkling lagoon behind them. Bright, detailed, rare orchids frame them as fireflies surround the forest.
original, watercolour on handmade rag paper, framed.
Inspired by the enchanting wildlife in India. I was lucky enough to travel to Kanha in India, the place that Rudyard Kipling was inspired to write his 'Just So stories'. Even though we were up at dawn and spotted tigers, monkeys, leopards etc; my imagination ran away with me. I couldnt help imagine a scene, when the humans go home, nobody there to capture the magic. The animals come out of the jungle, taking back there jungle...
Thirsty Work, original watercolour on heavyweight rag paper, framed.
Inspired by the wildlife of South and Central America. In this painting jaguars roam a copious and abundant forest floor, stopping to drink the rain water that has collected in a thick trunk, surrounded by exquisitely detailed and bright foliage.
Starry Seas, original watercolour on heavyweight rag paper, framed.
Work 1 of 3 in the Starry Reef triptych
Dive into this enchanted scene, with bioluminescent starry creatures surrounding reef. Star patterned rays swim in the background, whilst turtles dance in the current of the water. Jewel like. crabs and corals rest on the sea bed as beautiful and colourful fish make the corals their home.
Inspired by the fun and diversity that can be found in our oceans. Only, in these paintings, I have combined what you would expect to find in fresh water with salt water. A beautiful combination.
These paintings are a mix of dreamlike imagination and a firm love and appreciation of the natural world. Now more than ever, the wildlife found in our oceans and who we share our planet with should be celebrated and treasured.
My work highlights what we know about the natural world, in the detailed reference I use when I create a painting; but also the mysteries of what we do not know. When I allow my imagination to run wild and invent fascinating spectacles of sights unseen. Only to ever be found in our wildest dreams.
Kelp Kingdom, original watercolour on heavyweight rag paper, framed
Kelp Kingdom highlights the beauty of discovering and exploring a kelp forest underwater. An experience vwery few get to enjoy but can imagine what creatures maybe discovered there, the colours, the textures, the magic that can be found within.
These paintings are a mix of dreamlike imagination; and a firm love and appreciation of the natural world. Now more than ever, the wildlife found in our oceans and who we share our planet with should be celebrated and treasured.
